I've loved Star Wars for as long as I can remember, and it hit me the other day that I've never watched The Clone Wars (2008), which I've heard is quite good. But I have some questions about how to watch it.
I know there are three viewing orders (air date, chronological, ultimate) and it seems Ultimate is overall the most enjoyable and best of both worlds (although I'll listen to any arguments as to why it's not). However, there's an extra caveat for me: I'm also planning to watch the 2003 Star Wars: Clone Wars micro-series.
I know it's not canon, but I've already seen the first half of the show and I love it + everything Genndy Tarkovsky has done, and it seems Ventress, Grievous, and certain events get introduced in CW(2003) but are pre-existent in TCW(2008). For all these reasons, I plan to watch the 2003 show along with the 2008 one. So, my questions are:
from what I've heard, CW(2003) mostly doesn't contradict established canon, at least as long as you don't go rummaging through the EU books. How different is its version of canon from TCW(2008), and what should I be prepared for so I'm not constantly second-guessing everything that's happening?
If the canon doesn't contradict too much what would be the best way to watch CW(2003) and TCW(2008) together? Would CW(2003) all take place before TCW(2008), or are they more intertwined? I heard somebody say part 1 and part 2 of CW(2003) should sandwich the 2008 show? What's a binge-watcher to do?
